Permaculture: a smart house

A permaculture home is a home in tune with nature, but that doesn’t mean it’s low-tech. Mark Feichtmeir and Karen Boness’ permaculture homestead in Northern California- Kenwood Permaculture– is tricked out with solar pv, solar hot water and rainwater harvesting, filtration and purification.

Besides this equipment used to harvest nature’s resources, Mark also installed Smart House automation- for things like automated lighting and water recirculation pumps- to help reduce their energy use. In this video, Mark takes us inside the his smart house control and maintenance rooms.

We also have videos of the home’s 96 panel solar array and rainwater harvesting system.
